Description:
1,2-Dibromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropane is debrominated to dehydrogenate under basic conditions to give 2-bromotrifluoropropene. The 1,2-Dibromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropane was then reacted with carbon monoxide and water in an autoclave to synthesize 2-(Trifluoromethyl)acrylic acid.
