Synthesis:The dried bromine and Hexanoic acid were mixed, carefully added with phosphorus trichloride, heated to 65-70oC, and the reaction released a large amount of hydrogen bromide, and after 5-6 h, the temperature was raised to 100oC. The obtained product was subjected to distillation under reduced pressure, and a fraction of 132-140oC(2 kPa) was collected to obtain a product of 2-bromohexanoic acid
Use:As an intermediate in organic synthesis,Intermediate of Fluvalinate,Intermediate of Bromoisovalerate which is hypnotic sedative
